ABOUT KALARI

Kalari, an ancient Indian martial art form, transcends the boundaries of physical combat to become a holistic system that integrates the mind, body, and spirit.  Rooted in tradition and steeped in cultural significance, Kalari provides practitioners with not only self-defense skills but also a path towards personal growth, discipline, and overall well-being.

Kalari is a revived and a mixed martial arts that integrates various forms of ancient Indian martial arts practiced since 600 BC era, including Adimurai, Mei Payattu, Silambam, Kuthu Varisai, Nada Saari, Siramam, Mallu, Kusti, Eithal, Erithal and Ayutha Perukkam. 

The origins of Kalari can be traced back to ancient Tamil texts and scriptures, dating back thousands of years. The word "Kalari" refers to the training ground or arena, and the term encompasses various forms of martial arts that evolved in different regions of India. Kalari Payattu, one of the renowned branches of Kalari, originated in the Indian states of Kerala, which was the part of Ancient Chera dynasty. Kalari Payattu is recognized for its dynamic movements, weaponry skills, and comprehensive approach to physical and mental training. Kalari Adimurai is another prominent part of Kalari, originated in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, which was the part of Ancient Pandya and Chola dynasties. Kalari Adimurai is recognized for its combat techniques such as strikes, grappling and locks, weaponry skills and its holistic approach to the Siddha and Varma treatment.
